Celebrating the Mutual Mirroring of Nature and the Human Spirit
Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

The Shamanic Quality of Archaic Barrier Canyon Rock Art
One of the most fascinating aspects of the
redrock canyon country is the ancient rock art one can find there.
These pictographs were painted by members of a culture that lived up to
7,000 years ago. Archaeologists call it the Archaic Barrier Canyon
Culture.
They are quite shamanic in quality, and never fail to bring me
into a completely different dimension of reality.
