The desert strips away our superficial attachments rooted in societal living, and woos us into a sense of awe and wonder at the great beauty of the Earth. As we feel the incessant need to drink water while traveling in the desert heat, we realize as well how important it is for us to allow the interior spring of living water to leap up into the mind from its source within the heart. This water nourishes our imagination, enabling us to create spiritual myths and metaphors that put us in touch with our deepest truth. Indeed, the ruddy, curvaceous desert forms never fail to stimulate our creativity, while the curious nature of lizards, crows and ravens helps us learn how to play with our most beloved muse - the Imagination.
Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!
