Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

Goodbye, Winter; you've been immensely beautiful!

"Ice is only another form of terrestrial love."

The Contemplative John Muir

My time spent lying on frozen alpine lakes taking photos of gorgeously sculpted ice is about to end. With 60-degree temperatures in the high country, the melting is occurring pretty quickly this Spring, and the top layer of the lakes is getting quite mushy. I'm not ready yet to meet my end by falling through the ice, so it's about time for me to stop venturing out toward the center of these lakes. Goodbye, Winter; you've been immensely beautiful, and I love you very much :)
