Thus the words of the Apostle [Paul] are verified: the stretching forth to the things that are ahead involves the forgetting of what has already been attained (Philippians 3:13) . . . The graces we receive at every point are indeed great, but the path that lies beyond our immediate grasp is infinite . . . Thus we never stop rising, moving from one new beginning to the next . . ."
