Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

The chief aim of meditation is to experience wonder at the emergence of all things out of the vast sky of awareness.

The chief aim of meditation practice is to identify ourselves with the vast sky of awareness, and then to watch in awe as various forms, energies, occurrences, thoughts and emotions emerge like clouds from that expanse as though they were echoes arising out of Nowhere.  Here, we take great delight in playing a game of amazement, wondering what sort of  thought or occurrence will arise next!
