Today I was elated to be able to visit Rocky Mountain National Park for the first time since the devastating flood, which occurred almost eight weeks ago. Highway 36 - the longer of the two routes from the Plains to Estes Park - opened at noon today, and I found myself driving it a half hour later. During the two months that the Park was inaccessible, I felt like I'd been alienated from a major part of my soul. But today, I felt supremely and completely happy.
