Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

Do not abuse your wife, for in doing so, you are abusing Grandmother Earth.

"Do not abuse your wife. If you make your wife suffer, you will die in a short time. Our grandmother, the earth, is a woman, and in mistreating your wife, you are abusing Her. Most certainly will you be abusing our grandmother if you act thus. Since it is She who takes care of us, by your action you will be practically killing yourself."
