Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

The contrasting forces contained within Beauty create an energy that spins us into union with Her

Beauty, another major quality of the Goddess, involves the harmonizing of contrasts in color, form, curve, content or quality. Most importantly, beauty involves the capacity a beautiful object has both to stun us backwards and AWAY from it, and to draw us TOWARD it through longing to possess it in some way.  It is this back-and-forth movement between two contrasting forces that sets up an energy which SPINS or DANCES both the perceiver and the beautiful object into a single, dynamic, two-sided Unity. Through this mutual Unity, we - the perceiver - become the means through which BEAUTY knows and appreciates Herself. Through this same Unity, Beauty in turn becomes the mirror in which we can see OUR OWN attractive qualities. How amazing the Goddess is!
