Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

In the desert, we realize that all things emerge out of the Great Silence, and dissolve back into it.

In the interior desert, we come face to face with the realization that all things emerge out of the Great Silence and dissolve back into it. Spiritual maturity enables us to see that this Silence is actually a spacious, all-absorbing Love; one, as Thomas Merton says, "that is too vast to be completely felt."
