Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

Wheel-like Sunflowers remind us that life is a cycle.

This year, the sunflowers are especially prolific all across the West. Whenever I see them, they bring me such joy - with their thousands of perfect little "wheels," reminding me that life is never static. In the presence of sunflowers, I remember that each of our lives is ever cycling through its various internal seasons, none of which is meant to be permanent.
