Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

The purpose of good spirituality is to provide tools that foster a sense of awe and wonder at the absolute magic of life.

I'm convinced that the purpose of good spirituality is not salvation of the individual self or the assurance of immortality or a sense of forgiveness.  Rather, spirituality is meant to provide tools - like various meditation practices - that foster a sense of awe and wonder at the absolute magic of life.  Good science, I believe, has the same function.
