Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

Oftentimes on awaking, I would find several new plant species leaning over me and looking me full in the face.
"Sauntering in any direction, hundreds of
these happy sunplants brushed against my feet in every step, and closed
over them as if I were wading in liquid gold . . . The great yellow days
circled by uncounted, while I drifted . . . , lying down
almost anywhere on the approach of night. And what glorious botanical
beds I had! Oftentimes on awaking I would find several new species
leaning over me and looking me full in the face, so that my studies
would begin before rising."
