Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

A key to transforming our suffering is to view it as a participation in a larger suffering.

A key to transforming our suffering is to let go and allow it to share in a larger suffering - that of the human race, of other species, of the Earth, and of the Divine. Experience reveals that a sizable portion of our suffering arises because we think we are isolated and alone in our pain.
