Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

A snowy landscape embodies the Backdrop formed by God's humble presence.

A snowy winter landscape is especially effective in making visible the subtle but vivid bits of color and form that are present but often unnoticed during the greener months of the year.

I like to think of the vast expanses of snow as an embodiment of the presence of God which humbly offers itself as a seamless, silent, serene Backdrop upon which each creature is able to arise - as though out of nowhere - and manifest itself in all of its beauty and sacredness.
