Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

To lose oneself in awe and wonder.

In the spiritual tradition I practice, one does not call oneself "awakened" or "enlightened" or "transformed." Rather, one loses oneself in awe and wonder at the beauty and goodness present at the core of each and every thing and event encountered in the world.

The most we can say, perhaps, is that we - with God - are the loving space in which all things are able to reveal their own sacredness. Thomas Merton calls this space "poverty." I wholeheartedly agree.
