Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

The most precious things in life are the most transitory.

It is amazing how beautiful yet fragile the ice crystals decorating these trees were. As soon as I arrived, the sun popped through the clouds for fifteen minutes or so, and the sound of ice falling from the trees was everywhere. It was such music! Then, the sun disappeared once again, the melting stopped, and the crystals had one more chance to radiate their stunning beauty. May each of us approach our own lives with the same attitude as these ice crystals. May we realize that we too are meant to display our own beauty while we can, making all the world more radiant. For it too will eventually pass back into the "sunlight" of the Source! As always, the most precious things in life are the most transitory :)
