Welcome! I am a contemplative thinker and photographer from Colorado. In this blog, you'll discover photographs that I've taken on my hiking and backpacking trips, mostly in the American West. I've paired these with my favorite inspirational and philosophical quotes - literary passages that emphasize the innate spirituality of the natural world. I hope you enjoy them!

The Seacoasts Embody the Meditative State

The seacoasts of the Pacific Northwest - with their spacious expanses, tides moving like breath, and bright colored wildflowers and sea stacks appearing out of and disappearing back into the fog, never fail to bring me into a state of meditation. I appreciate the fact that so many miles of coastline have been preserved as wilderness - and as physical embodiments of the meditative state.
